This is an archive of press coverage of Moral Mondays/the Forward Together Moral Movement from their first few months in 2013. There has been LOTS of national and local news coverage devoted to Moral Mondays, launched by the North Carolina NAACP in April. I decided to create a comprehensive list of media coverage, statistics, relevant North Carolina politics, etc. in the early stages of the movement. The movement got bigger and bigger and received more and more press – keeping track of all the coverage at this point would be nearly impossible. Feel free to contact me with things I’ve missed from these first months.

What I wrote on your Facebook entry: Wow! We are doing just what you’re talking about at Turn NC Blue. Your page will help us out tremendously! http://www.turnncblue.org/activism.html

And, part 1, of 3(so far) installments of slideshows I created to highlight the protest and some folks willing to go to jail to stand for everyone’s rights, and assert their Constitutional rights.

  3. TJ June 22, 2013 at 5:43 am #

And, another installment of my slideshows…to say thank you for all those willing to stand in the face of power, and let them know we are serious about living out our Constitutional rights:

    Thank you!

Great work. Mind if I add a couple —

    1) from May 8 Indyweek —

    http://www.indyweek.com/indyweek/the-ripple-effect-naacps-barber-and-civil-disobedience-in-raleigh/Content?oid=3633842

    2) and from May 3, with updates on May 7 and May 9, the first published reference to Moral Mondays (I’m pretty sure this is the case because when I used that term in the original blog post, someone from the NAACP called to ask where I got that name. Barber had used the term the morning of May 3, but I think he hadn’t really settled on it as a name, nor on trying to have a protest every Monday … though his troops were making plans that morning to make the protests a weekly event.) —

    thanks
